Blackberries coming out of my ears

This is why Boyfriend and I had a super busy weekend. Last year's blackberry brandy went down so well, we thought we'd do it again this year. Boyfriend's dad loved it so much we thought we'd help him get his own batch on the go too. So off we went, rucksack full of tupperwares ready to fill them. We weren't sure if we were going to be too late, I've been seeing ripe blackberries in south London for a couple of months now. But oh no, we were not to be disappointed. In total, we picked 3kg. Yes 3kg!!!! So want to see the work in progress?

Isn't it beautiful? ;-)

And of course there was some 1kg left after that as well, so I got my little apron on (well metaphorically you know) and used up the last of my spare glass jars to make some blackberry jam! The smell in the kitchen was simply divine! I'm now tempted to go pick some more to make some blackberry and apple leather...!

I haven't made it out picking yet, but our strawberry jam is almost finished, so it's time for a new jar, methinks.

The demijohns? From Wilkinsons!! We got ours last year but got another one for Boyfriend's dad this year, so I know they're still selling them. Around £5 so won't break the bank either!

Lovely stuff and fab pic of the blackberries, I swear there is juice dripping out of my screen onto my keyboard.

Confiture des mûres here too, soon, and damson gin which is made the same way as your brandy.

goodness me, 3 whole kg? that's loads! Impressive.
Years ago my parents used to make wine out of dandelion flowers because they were free. I remember having to pick a LOT of dandelions.

Aaah she only had ballet pumps on so she took them off in case they fell off into the mud. That photo doesn't really demonstrate how high up we were!!

Wow - and I thought we had a glut here! Love the sound of the 'leather' - I think I'll get onto making some of that this weekend.
