A dollop of sweetness

Good morning!

Well I'm glad that some of you do like the new look of this blog! I must say I'm always intrigued about the rest who never comment or those regular readers who don't visit anymore, but hey, what can you do. To those of you who read my little words each day and comment, thank you :-)

I haven't got the blanket post ready just yet, I've got photos but I haven't sorted out details about the yarn yet, and essential measurements, so it will have to wait a little longer!

Until then, I'd like to keep you content with this, an offering of sweetness, a cute little dollop of happiness. What more could you want on a grey Tuesday morning? (apart from gratuitous photos of flowers that is?!)

I found the recipe for these peanut butter and chocolate bites in Rachel Allen's Food for Living which I picked up from the library at the weekend. These little cookies are so moreish it's ridiculous. And they're just as good cooked straight from the freezer too. Not sure if that's such a good thing after all! Having a ready supply of treats in the house means they never last very long...!

Anyway, if you have the chance to lay your little fingers on a copy of this book, do it, it's very pretty indeed, lots of nice looking recipes, some simple, some more challenging. I'll definitely be trying a few more in the near future.

Ooh ... are they ... STRIPY crocuses?? How lovely! Mmm, those cookies do look good, I'm thinking of having a go at Snickerdoodles tonight, they look really simple and tasty so I hope my baking skills don't let me down! x

I like the new look! Although on a small screen you do have to scroll to the right a bit to see everything?

Hi Clare, thanks for your feedback! I know it's not 100% yet, and all computers seem to give it a different feel... we have 2 at home and i use one at work too and it looks different on all 3!! Sometime i use the Ctrl button and scroll bit on the mouse to make the take smaller (or bigger), that might help it fight all on your page?

I LOVE Rachel Allen's books! I have "Bake" and I've only made one thing from it but I just love looking at the photos and thinking "I could totally follow this recipe!" I also have "Food for Home" or something, managed to get it in hardback for a £5er in WH Smiths. I haven't read it yet as I am saving it for the perfect baking/reading weekend :)

Foof! Just read 15 of your posts all in one go - that's what happens with a new baby, I suppose!
Thanks for your congratulations, PF and love the crocus photos. I have two measly daffodils in my garden so far - everything else is biding it's time.

Sadly, I'm the only peanut butter fan in our household and can NOT afford to scoff the lot myself! More's the pity....

Your background photo is a lovely one, though it's fighting with mine (Mac windows don't open to the edges...)

Well, this seems like a sensible post to add a comment saying hi from a fairly new reader - turned up a couple of months back by following a link you left on the BBC good food site, and just seem to have hung around. The new look is great, although for some reason my brain keeps trying to replace the balls of wool in my peripheral vision with large, water-rounded pebbles sat on a sunny beach!

And just to add - thank you for the link to Persephone recently - I ended up ordering 3 myself, and now want the full range! And I suspect reading your blog is what's had me obsessing over patchwork for the last week or so - I've now got a pattern for a small quilt, and spent several hours looking at fabrics online, despite not having done this since primary school, when I'm now over 30! I'm trying to convince myself to start smaller, with cushions, but I just want to jump straight in. So thanks for that too!
