Out of nowhere

This newly found love of mine: fabric. I never knew I'd like it so much until I discovered blogland. Until then, it simply never crossed my mind. Never. But now, well it's a whole different story. I dream of fat quarters and fabric stashes (as if a yarn stash isn't enough). I dream of owning a sewing machine, even perhaps a magnificient old school Singer. I dream of making wonderful clothes like so many of you do. But I have none of this. [For the moment, fear not, I'm sure I'll get onto it one day, when I move into my lovely dream house with a big garden, a cat and a dog. Yep.] So until then, I make myself happy with a little hand sewing. Using some gorgeous swatches and some hand picked lavender. Gorgeous little lavender pouches - bliss!

Fabric addiction is dangerous. Take it from one who knows!

I know just what you mean. Fabric was something that didn't figure in my head at all until I got sucked in to blogland.

Now I want to buy it all the time! Luckily for me my sewing skills are non existent so I am prevented from indulging and I just have to settle for standing and stroking them in shops instead!

Its very very addictive. I sometimes have to just stand in a fabric shop - just to "be there"!! xxx

Dragonfly is right... Be careful, be very, very careful. All this fabric is addictive. But, I can't wait to see what you are going to whip up with this stuff. It look like lovely linen.

I love sewing, you can make so many different things, and the fabrics, yikes! I particularly love vintage linens. I really do enjoy hand sewing occasionally, it is very therapeutic, those tiny repetitive stitches.

I'm a fabric addict too. There could be worse addictions! You know John Lewis are selling the dinkiest little sewing machines for £49. They're called the JL mini and come in the most delish colours. I got my daughter one for xmas and it really is good value and works very well as a basic machine. I'm not sure it would withstand quilt making but you could definitely run up a few cushions, lavender hearts etc. Maybe something to think about? A x

I love those fabric swatches! Fabric addiction creeps up on you - I too had no idea that I would become addicted so fast! But if you can make something useful and beautiful from it, then that can't be a bad thing, right?

I think I am starting on the same road as you. Dottycookie gave me my first lesson with my Gran's machine a few weeks ago. I have a thristed stash but I can see it's going to be hard to resist lovely new fabric.
