I smell (of) lavender

Honestly, I probably do (smell of lavender), even though I don't realise it. There's now either a lavender pouch or a bunch of dried lavender flowers in nearly each and every room of the flat. And even some to keep my smalls company!

On a more serious note, you know what I've been up to. I showed you the fabric here and haven't put it down since. Lavender everywhere, lavender in the air!!! Hahaha!! (yes, ok, I'm going mental - but then it is Friday, so I'm allowed, the weekend is nearly upon us!).

Anyway, I love them. And I love linen. Shame the company I got these swatches from only sold linen that was dry clean only. Is it always like that? I'm sure some of you fabric people will know. I hope not because I have a couple of projects in mind and anything that can't be machine washed is not welcome in my house.

I love the pouch pictured at the top, it's hanging from a floor lamp in the living room. And the one to the left here, I totally am in love with that fabric. The blue embroidery is simply beautiful. I think I might have ruined it slightly with my wooden beads, but I wanted to embelish it somehow. Hmmm... Anyway, there's more to come, but I've only got two hands and can only do so many things at once!

Hope you have a lovely Friday all and make the most of your weekend! xx

Well there's dry-clean only and then there's dry-clean only. Mostly things that are marked dry-clean only can be hand washed with care. Since you're working with fabric pieces you can always test wash a small piece to see the effect.

They're lovely! I really like the second one. Were your swatches for upholstery fabric? Perhaps that's why they've said dry clean only? If you buy dressmaking linen it ought to be washable. I agree with Liz, you could probably wash it anyway but perhaps try washing a test piece to be safe.

You should be very proud of both these lovelies. They'd make lovely gifts too.

Love the blue embroidery on the second pouch.

It's such a nice smell, I used to have an aversion to it when I was younger because I thought it was an 'old person smell' (I was a delightful child) but I have warmed to it in my later years and now I can feel the calming soothing effects of its aroma.

It was upholstery fabric... hum, I'll have to have a look around for dressmaking linen then
