You make all these efforts

And for what? Oh it looks nice alright. And I can tell you it tastes good too.

But unfortunately I was rather too lazy busy and so I didn't take the time to check it had reached setting point. So yes, it's still rather liquid. No proper jam for me yet. So guess what I'll be doing tonight? Putting it all back in the saucepan to have another go.

I will not be defeated by raspberries of all things!!

We've all done it.
Next time I make jam, I think I'll buy myself one of those Jam Thermometers first.
I inherited a fantastically large Jam-pan from my mum and love making the stuff, but hate all the stickiness - it seems to get everywhere!
Good luck with round 2.

If you have a microwave then you can use this really easy recipe - it's very, very simple :) http://swirlyarts.blogspot.com/2008/08/easiest-way-to-make-jam-ever.html

Unfortunately I don't! There are never any leftovers to heat up in my house! ;-)

It can easily happen to anyone.

Just call it compote and you can get away with it being runny! x

If the worst comes to the worst you have some excellent sauce for ice-cream there! Or perhaps you could give a jar to a charity mugger....!

You could try adding some pectin, it's a setting agent and comes in a bottle form the supermarket. Also I expect you know to try some on a cold saucer to see if it wrinkles? Hope the second batch goes well! x

This happened to me the last time I made jam - a second boiling sorted it out although all the jar washing again made me go out and buy a jam thermometer for this year's batch!

It isn't too bad liquidy...it sets quite well in the fridge...
