Short break

So this is it, back in the old routine (apart from the snow induced havoc, but we'll just forget about that for now!). I have to admit, after my short burst last week when I let you know I was still alive and well, I checked out some of your blogs very swiftly but quickly decided that was not what I wanted to do. Something about being on the computer during the holidays. It doesn't always agree with me. And then, we decided to go away for a couple of days. Just like that.

Boyfriend's parents had recommended we go to Aldeburgh for a while, so that's just what we did. Off we went on Saturday. And you want to know how it went? Well it was great!! We had such a great time. Great food (oh my goodness, fish and chips!!!!!!!!!!!), great scenery, great weather. By that you might think I'm referring to sunshine. Well I am, partly. But you'll never guess. I'll leave the photos do the talking... So there, I hope you enjoy a few snaps of this little escapade. I'd love to be there again!!!

So we'll start with this. The beach. I actually ran to get this photo. We'd just parked the car and I got so excited, I ran. Trust me, these days, that means a lot.

Then I noticed a running theme around the town (ha, like what I did there?!): sun dials. Here are a couple which I thought were absolutely beautiful.

Oh and please. See that blue sky? Yep, keep that in mind. Because it all went downhill from there. Or uphill, depending on where you stand.  But I tell you something, you won't believe your eyes. So now for the gradual change from sunny pebble beach...

To overcast... At some points, you couldn't even tell where the sea ended and the sky started...

To full on snow.... Yes, you read right, it snowed on the beach!!! I'd never seen that happen, and I can tell you one thing, I still feel excited about it now!

This left such a beautiful sight: a snowy pebbly beach...

And amazing landscapes...

I realise this is quite a photo-heavy post, I'm so sorry!! I'll cut it short then, and save some more photos for tomorrow. Hope to see you then!! x

Unexpected leave is great, and I very much enjoyed my snow day yesterday, but I'm glad to be back in the office today. Aside from anything else I have lots of plans for using up my leave this year including Woolfest and Knit Camp 2010.

Happy New Year to you. Isn't it strange how we bloggers lead such similar lifes, My husband and I saw in the new millenium in Aldeburgh 10 years ago. A dog Pee'd on me on the beach on New Years Day. I took it as a good luck sign, as I fell pregnant shortly after - what a fabulous 10 years x

Fab photos! I'd really love to go to Aldeburgh - I'm hoping we'll get away this year so I might suggest it. It looks like such a pretty town.

Liz, that looks like some serious knitting holidays you got lined up there!!

Lucy, what a funny story!! And yes, it seems a lot of us end up in the same places!

Maddi, thanks so much for your message!! It's so kind, you really made me smile, thank you!

Diane, glad to hear I'm not on my own!! I'm planning a couple of posts about low-fat recipes for this weekend or next week - hopefully you'll like them!

Rachel - it is a lovely place, if a little posh. Accomodation can be a little pricey, but it's very nice - I found the town was most enjoyable on Sunday when Saturday day trippers had gone home

Thanks all for your lovely comments xx
