Good morning!

Good morning! Hope you all had a nice weekend! Not much going on over here, just enjoyed being at home...

Enjoyed the lovely roses I have around the house...

Enjoyed some lovely Beaujolais in Boyfriend's new decanter...

Enjoyed a lovely meal of roasted guinea fowl and vegetables in a wholegrain mustard, lemon zest and white wine sauce...

Enjoyed making some bread (although the kneading part did drive me mad at one point when the dough was ridiculously sticky!!) with some lovely granary flour bought during our Norfolk holiday last year from this mill...

And enjoyed going for my first jog of the year - no photo of that I'm afraid, it really wasn't a pretty sight! What did you enjoy this weekend? x

I enjoyed doing nothing!! First weekend in a while where there wasn't anything we HAD to do. So it was a case of staying in pyjamas til after 1pm - bit of shopping (we still need food!), bit of visiting, bit of buying from hobbycraft and waterstones and far too much tv watching. In other words - brilliant!!

Sounds like a great weekend, lots of lovely food. We played a lot of games with the children, had a wonderful meal at grandma's house and tried to figure out what is wrong with our van, ugh, car problems.

That bread looks great - and how nice that you know where the flour comes from, that kind of thing always makes me disproportionately happy!
I did various weekend-y things including eating good food (Turkish - yum!), catching up on sleep, meeting a couple of friends, and visiting the Royal Academy. It was really good - although I was supposed to go for a jog too, that didn't get fitted in though, oops.....

Hi there - my first time to comment and I thought I could actually save you the kneading. Over here in N.Ireland we make wheaten bread...no kneading needed....(oh gosh the English language!)In case you want to try here goes:-
Put 1 lb mediaum wholemeal (or coarse)flour into a bowl, then seive 1/2 lb plain flour + 2 tsp Baking Soda into the wholemeal. Add 2 small handfuls of caster sugar (!! no measure needed - gauge it for yourself). Make a well in the centre....add two eggs which you have forked a little to mix....add 2 tablespoons olive oil or indeed any oil....then add 1 pint of buttermilk (if you don't have buttermilk you could try natural yoghurt - it may not give the same result but my son who lives in Alnwick in Northumberland used it as they didn't have it for sale. Mix all this together quickly...it will be sloppy! Put into 2 2lb loaf tins which you could line with silicone loaf tin liners. Make sure the oven has reached 220 degrees and put them into the oven immediately they are in the tins. Bake at this temp for 15 mins...then reduce the heat to 150 for about 40 mins or so....cool and enjoy spread with lovely but almost not allowed butter.....hope it works for you...and no kneading at all.

Joyce, what can I say, thanks for the recipe!!! I've heard of using eggs in bread that doesn't need kneading, and I love making soda farls using buttermilk, so this could be a nice combination! I'll definitely give it a go! Cheers x
