I've fallen in love

I just couldn't help myself.

I.

HAD.

TO.

End of.

Oh, have I not mentionned what I'm going on about?! Well, take a look...

It's all about Menorca and Sardinia for me.

Watch this space. Let's just say I'm not planning on going on holiday empty handed.

Hours of train journeys to come, hmmm I can't wait!!

Agree to disagree

He tells me I can't have cake for breakfast.

I tell him it's not cake, it's "bread". Banana bread.

He tells me it's not healthy.

I tell him it's healthy because I added poppy seeds, pumpkin seeds and other seeds I had lying around in the cupboard.

Basically, it's just bananas and seeds. What's there to argue about?!

Conclusion: I've had this for breakfast and it's lush. End of story (well not really, scroll down if you want the recipe!)

Banana bread recipe

Ingredients:

  • 100g butter
  • 150g golden caster sugar
  • 2 medium eggs
  • 250 plain flour
  • 100ml milk (I used skimmed and it worked fine)
  • 2 tsp bicarb of soda
  • 3 super ripe mashed bananas
  • optional extras: seeds, nuts, chocolate chips...

Method:

  • Preheat oven to 180C and line a loaf tin.
  • Beat the butter and sugar until light and creamy.
  • Add the eggs and beat it all together.
  • Add the flour, bicarb and milk. Mix together well.
  • Add mashed bananas, and extras if using.
  • Pour mix into lined tin and bang in the oven until cooked (after 25min skewer was still coming out covered in cake goo so I turned the temperature down to 175C for an extra 20min and it worked a treat)

Animal love

If you've been reading this blog for a while, you'll know that I loooove animals. Be it cats, dogs, and really anything remotely cute and furry. This weekend, I got treated to some super animal love. Even though no cuddling was involved. Not one little bit. But do you want to see why I've still got a massive smile on my face thinking about it? Have a look.

How can anyone resist this big black ball of fur?

Well ok, I must admit we may have felt a little shaky at this point...

But they were just so cute... Winnie the Pooh anyone?!

Look at this fella - I mean come on, what amazing colours!!!

Those ears make me want to squeak

These guys were pretty cool - although at that particular point, I think my exact words were "I think it's time to make a move!!!"

So beautiful...

Now for a little bit of backside action...

And again..

And finally, because it's not all about the big and beautiful, let's not forget about the cute little ones that share our world every day...

I thought I should say this fantastic place is having a money-raising event this coming Friday for the Eastern Mountain Bongo (there's only 60ish poor sods left in the wild). Admission only £5. Bargainous me thinks.

Oh, and come back tomorrow to see my favouritest animal of all times. You won't be disappointed.

When you notice something....

No one else has...

See these flowers? Don't they look gorgeous close up?

Well they didn't look like much from a distance. So I must thank this little blog of mine for making my eyes open wide. Without it, I think I would have been like the rest of them, walking straight past this beautiful nature that surrounds us.

I'm not a bad person I swear

But I hate charity street workers. Now, don't get me wrong, but the way they go about their business really gets to me. Is this a rant you can see coming along? Hell yes. Here it goes!!!!

So, first of all, I lost all respect for you, little street rats, when I realised you all share the same patch. Honestly, I can never walk past that church and that supermarket and that train station without being harassed. That's three times on my journey home. Not. Impressed. It gets me all worked up when I'm meant to be relaxing after leaving work.

And the worse thing is, you try and make me feel guilty. It worked the first few times, but I've been doing that same walk for the last three years now, so I can tell you your little tactics fail to have any impact on me whatsoever. I don't want to have to pretend that 1/ I'm in hurry 2/ I'm on the phone 3/ I've already subscribed to your charity. I like to make my own decisions thank-you-very-much, I don't like to be pressurised by a spotty adolescent/ aren't-I-so-cool-I'm-helping-to-save-the-world hippy/ angry person who just wants my money. Those fake smiles, honestly. And don't go on calling me love/ darling/ gorgeous , I know you don't mean it, it gets me even more annoyed. We're not mates. It's not because we were born in the same decade that you can try and be all matey with me. So just back off.

Oh and the way you like to get in my way. Like physically? What's that all about? Not only do I feel like I have to avoid eye contact with you otherwise you will literally pounce on me, but I have to juggle around other people who happen to be walking on the same bit of pavement at that moment, so you're more likely to try and harass them rather than me. I don't like to feel threatened, or feel like I have to change my habits/ behaviour because of you. Just leave it to me yeah? If I want to give money to save/ help the world's ever increasing list of categories at risk (think circus animals, pets, children, women, old people blablabla) I'll do it on my own accord. And don't even think that me saying that makes me a bad person. No way jose. I just like to do what I like, when I like. Not when I'm going home after a full day at work. Last thing I want to do is stand there listening to your sales pitch. Because you're not fooling anyone. I know some of you get paid to do this, you don't just do it out of the goodness of your heart (not that that would make it any better).

Now, how do you feel about this? Actually, I'd say charity street workers are high up there with another type of street rat: those that give out free newspapers. But that's another post in itself.

(ps: rant over - you can breathe now)

You make all these efforts

And for what? Oh it looks nice alright. And I can tell you it tastes good too.

But unfortunately I was rather too lazy busy and so I didn't take the time to check it had reached setting point. So yes, it's still rather liquid. No proper jam for me yet. So guess what I'll be doing tonight? Putting it all back in the saucepan to have another go.

I will not be defeated by raspberries of all things!!

My gift to you

Some sunshine to brighten up your day. Because so far, this week has been rather grey and wet (well apart from this morning of course, typical!).

And looking at those sunflowers makes me smile on the inside. I find they help me relax and focus on what's important. And they make me giggle too, they are about the size of my head after all ;-)

Here we go...

The blocking has started. Actually, I'd say it's in full swing. I think I can hear you gasping already. You feel sorry for me right? To be honest, I think I feel sorry for myself too. I mean, we're 12 down at the moment, 84 to go .... Don't wish me luck, wish me patience!!!
