This is it. I put my hands up. I've well and truly started planning for my Christmas presents. I've said it. The C word. I'm sorry for those of you who feel like xmas comes too early every year (and I think it kind of does with all the shop decorations etc), but I also know I'm not the only out there who needs to do a lot of planning. And gets tons of enjoyment out of it too! That's just what you need to do if you're planning on making things by hand. You need Time. So there, I've got my apologies out of the way, so I can now show you what I've been up to!!!
Last weekend, I finished a small batch of decorations which will be added to Christmas hampers. I got the idea from a needlecraft book and adapted it with my own design. I think they don't look too bad, what's you opinion on them?
They could be put up on the xmas tree, or anywhere else for that matter.
And now, for xmas cards. Now I have to say, I'm quite ashamed about this, but I made those back in August. No, it's not a typo, you're not reading wrong, I did write August. I started my blog before that, so you might be wondering why I didn't tell you about them before. Well, we're going back to the shame bit you see. I thought you might laugh of me. Or think that I'm a really sad person. Who starts to think about xmas in summer?!! So I feel that showing you these at the end of October is a lot more acceptable ;-)
I really like these and will definitely be making some more. I've got a few more spare beads to use up (from a childhood collection!). I'm also quite fond of the less traditional colour coordinations, kind of a modern twist on xmas traditions. I'm eager to hear what you think of them!!! The pink card on the photo above is actually a lot stronger, nothing like the pastel colour that's come out on this photo - so little good light at the moment! And the cards below (can you see the shadow of my hand on the right?!) - well there's no hiding I didn't do the ones on either side of the bird, but that's ok, I like them too and they definitely give me inspiration to do my own little stickers!

Hiya. Thanks for your comment on my blog today. I followed the pattern from the Tilda book 'Sew Pretty Homestyle'. I used a machine to make all his parts and then hand-stitched him together.
I too start to plan for Christmas early! Your decorations are stunning, as are you cards! I like the break from traditional. I rather like cool colours at christmas - lots of white and icy blues. Your Robin is gorgeous! :) x
I love the handmade cards. I've been trying to think what to do for my own cards this year and I might have to 'borrow' the threaded Christmas tree idea. May I?

I don't want to say it. But, doing Christmas cards is one of my least favorite parts of the holiday season. Maybe, it's because my mom made us all pose for pictures every year. I don't mean one, but rolls and rolls to get just the right one... Yuck... But, I'm loven't the yarn trees, so I may have to rethink this whole thing.

I wish I'd started making my cards in August!! I didn't start til the end of Sept so not everyone will be getting a special cross stitched card - I'll have to make a list of the select lucky people!!

don't feel bad for starting Christmas projects, in August, I started in June. I think it really helps you to be able to enjoy Christmas if you are not scrambling to get finished. I love those tree cards, great idea.
Kate - that sounds hilarious!!! I can just imagine the whole posing thing!!!
Decorations were made using needlepoint on round plastic canvas I bought in John Lewis - they sell little packs of them - and then some left over thread/ wool - it's quite quick to made as well once you get the hand of it!
And Jennifer, I'm glad I wasn't the only one to start so early!!
