Nan shawl

I did it. I finished it on time, by the self-imposed deadline that was the 22nd of December. This gave me plenty of time to block the shawl and have it all dry and wrapped up before the arrival of the French guests on the 24th. Phew. I can't say it was a greatly enjoyable knit. It was put on hold for a couple of weeks before I messed up a couple of rows and had to take a few back as a result. Most painful.

But looking at the result, I'm ever so proud. It looks as intricate and delicate as I'd hoped for, and most importantly, my nan loved it.

In the end, it will have taken a lot of time, patience and concentration, but it was worth it. Although don't ask me to make a second one, that won't happen in a million years!!

It's beautiful. The yarn looks very fine and the pattern very intricate, so I can imagine how difficult it must have been. But yes it was most definitely worth it!
I'm sure your Nan will treasure it.

I've had a couple of projects like that, glad I did them, but never again :) The shawl is really beautiful and what a pretty color, I bet she absolutely loves it.

It's absolutely stunning, I'm sure it will be treasured for years. I think knitting lace is a bit like moving house - by the time you feel like doing it again you've forgotten how painful it was last time.

Wow - it is so delicate! I've been having a go at knitting just in straight rows and the number of times I've buggered it up...my scarf looks horrific! But I've only just taught myself how to cast on and do straight lines - not how to fix it if it goes wrong or how to cast off yet...one step at a time. And I just bought a crochet needle!!! :) xxxx
