Holiday hobby

I’m ashamed to say I’m struggling with the book I’m reading at the moment. I don’t feel gripped by it. This may have something to do with the fact that it came all the way to France with us, enjoyed a ferry ride in the boot of the car, and well, ahem… stayed there until we were back in England? Yes, I know, shameful. Does anyone else get that though? We always take books with us away, with great intentions of getting through them in no time, and then BANG, nothing. Nada.

I did however occupy the little spare time I had with some crafting. One of the best travel crafting projects ever. Some tapestry work, a present from Boyfriend at Christmas. This was one of the best presents ever because he thought about it all by himself and got it totally spot on. A cute little project to make into something cool like a cushion perhaps. Anyway, we’re not there yet! But I’m working my way through it and did some good progress in France which I’m very pleased about! It’s arranged in a square, made up of 9 smaller squares, each with a heart in its centre. So far, I’ve managed to complete three squares and I’m over the moon! Here are some peaks for you to enjoy, I just can’t wait to get it all done! Only the thing is, I can picture it being used in a particular room of the new house-to-be (fingers crossed), so it better all work out!

Oh this looks very cute and lovely. I haven't tried my hand at tapestry yet, maybe it should be next on my list.

Well done to the boyfriend for good present buying!

I hear you on the book front - I often end up taking things back to the library without turning a single page! Still there's never enough time for everything and it looks like you put what spare time you had to good use with the gorgeous tapestry

That looks brilliant.

I have a (very simple) tapestry cushion front that I made a few months ago but I'm not confident about how to make it into a cushion (do I need piping or an edging or something). Have you done it before? Do you have any tips?

No I haven't, but I was hoping someone out there might know! Anyone?

I was thinking of sewing it to some fabric along 3 sides and adding buttons to the 4th side to close/ open it, but not exactly sure about exactly how I will do that...

Oh I like that patter - the strawbug is particularly cute looking! I too wouldn't know how to make it into a cushion but might have to give tapestry a little go...

That looks lovely - I can't wait to see how it ends up. I'm dying to do a bit of tapestry. I'm on the lookout for a nice Union Jack to turn into a cushion. x

I love it- so cheerful. What a clever man you have in your life, very sweet and thoughtful. 'Yes' from me to the book problem too, I suffer from that, and I have lots on the shelf to get through! xxx
