Winter wonderland

Well not quite, but nearly. On Sunday, we had a little walk around some local woods. We were trying to find sweet chestnuts, but soon gave up when we worked out we were way too late. But this didn't bring me down (I just bought some in the supermarket instead), and made the most of our walk. The weather was refreshingly dry and crisp. The sun was low in the sky, giving everything an enchanting glow.

Not only that, but I found some interesting looking fellas growing around the leaves... Doesn't this one look like slithers of parmesan cheese??! Maybe it's just me ;-)

And this one with a little pool of water, how delicate...

This one was truly truly tiny!! If I'd put my foot down for scale, that's probably all you'd see, my foot - and let's face it, that doesn't make for a good or even remotely interesting photo!

An expected package also came at the weekend... and it was brilliant!! I knew I'd won a little giveaway over at Swirly Arts, but I wasn't exactly sure what I'd be getting. Well all I can say is that I'm super happy with what I got!!!! Thank you Lynsey! A selection of gift tags and lots of envelopes, including some christmassy ones which are going to be put to good use very soon indeed!

So, halfway through the week already. Last night was Kirsty's Homemade Christmas on TV. Did anyone watch it? What did you think of it? I must admit I was only half watching it, doing crafty stuff (more on that some other time!), but I wasn't too impressed I guess. I enjoyed watching her Homemade Home programme earlier on in the year, but really, the average person can't really get to do what she does on a budget. Cutting your own Christmas tree? Making your own glass bauble?? Very nice ideas, but let's face it, it's not exactly for everyone is it. I'll give her another chance and watch it tonight (and probably tomorrow as well because I'm a sucker for it!), maybe she'll come up with more affordable and realistic projects. To be continued!

Have a lovely Wednesday x

I watched Kirsty last night too! I'm a complete sucker for her programmes, and I watched most of the one's earlier this year. I thought last nights was repeating her earlier programmes a bit, using the same makers to help her along, shame they didn't introduce some new crafts people, maybe they will tonight. I always think that the things she presents on her homemade programme are a bit pie in the sky, and to be honest, she never actually does the majority of the work, the professional makers do. But I still love the programme, there's nothing else on t.v. like it, is there? In the States they have lots of wonderful crafty programmes, but we're a bit behind here in the U.K. I'll be recording her programme tonight. Isn't that ring she's wearing AMAZING! Love Vanessa xxx (do you mind if i knit)

I missed Kirsty last night. I'm not sure whether I like her housey programmes, I can't quite believe that it's the same hard-nosed house buyer who has morphed into a fluffy crafting home maker. Doesn't quite sit true with me, it's a lovely idea but the reality is never quite going to be so idyllic. But i'll probably watch, as it's entertaining stuff nonetheless. Better than Eastenders!

Hi! I love the mushroom pics.

And don't get me started on Kirsty... last night I was actually shouting at the television before switching over... she makes me very cross... it seems the program has very little to do with making things and much more to do with her showing off about her house.

Rant over!

Hehee I LOVE Kirsty... her coats, her hair, her shoes, THAT ring! My obsession did start really as a Kirsty & Phil addiction but now she's onto her homemade mission I love her on her ownio!
I do agree with Vanessa in that she has just used the same crafters and hardly actually makes the stuff herself - but I like to watch it for the ideas and inspiration, even if I can only dream of having her expendable income!
Go Kirsty GO!

Love the top photo of the wood - it looks very spooky!!

I did indeed sit myself down to watch Kirstie. Like the Vanessa has already said, it's technically not 'homemade', more like "I'm going to pay these people lots of money to make stuff" but it's still enjoyable!!

And I'm definitely making some salt dough stuff. Man I'd forgotten about that. My Mum went mental for salt dough at one point when I was younger the house was littered with salt dough plaque things. Salt, water, flour. Done, done and done. God knows when I'm actually going to do it though!

AND I think my tree looks better than hers did (see my latest post!)

Great mushroom photos - they're so delicate and much prettier than the ones in the window box next to where I wait for the bus each morning which look a bit like slimy orange peel!

I'm loving Kirstie's Homemade Christmas too! She is so positive and enthusiastic about craft and thrifting.
Beautiful piccies you've shared; I especially like the fungus ones.

Hi! I agree with Lucy and Maddi M, I love Kirsty's programme! I was so inspired by it all, the sewing, the soap making, the ribbon roses and the cakes! I'd love to have a go at all of it! If only there were more hours in the day!

Loving the woodlands pics! :0)

Hi there,

I have just stumbled onto your blog and really like your pictures. Especially the parmesan cheese one lol! I have to say I love Kirstie's Homemade Christmas, I am now preparing a food hamper for my Aunts christmas instead of buying one. Hopefully she will like it, if not then I will blame Kirstie haha!
I will look forward to reading your posts in the future.
P.S. I love your christmas bunting x

The photos are stunning! Yes, the first mushroom does look like slivers of parmesean cheese! The one with the water droplet is magical. Well done on winning the giveaway. You have received some lovely things.x
